Winternitz Lecture
On November 5th, 2013, Dr. Thorn presented her talk "Literacy and Disparities in Reducing Barriers in Treating, Managing Pain" for the Winternitz Lectures sponsored by the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Dr. Thorn's targeted audience was physicians, medical students, residents and other health professionals. Saving Lives InitiativeContributing to the Center for Community-Based Partnership's Saving Lives Initiative, Dr. Beverly Thorn and other members of the lab conducted several stress management workshops in community churches to foster greater health and coping in their congregations. The talks were very well attended and the feedback was positive! We are looking forward to future opportunities to work with CCBP and the Saving Lives Initiative.

The PMT has been working with the wonderful staff at the Maude Whatley Health Center to promote better physical and mental health in the medically and psychologically underserved residents of Tuscaloosa and surrounding counties.
