Bravo to Jessica White, whose Honors Project won 1st place in the Natural Sciences and Mathematics section at the 2013 Undergraduate Research & Creative Activity Conference at UA! Additional kudos go to Emiliy Austin and Wesley Korfe, Emerging Scholars with the PMT, who expertly presented their capstone projects at the conference. Lab member Jane Smith also presented her Emerging Scholar project, completed with Lucy Curzon from Art. We just landed a $1.3 million grant from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)! We were 1 of only 25 projects funded out of over 480! Work will start soon on "Reducing Disparities with Literacy-Adapted Psychosocial Treatments for Chronic Pain: A Comparative Trial." Congratulations to Martha Combs for successfully completing her prelims! Full speed ahead on her project researching attitudes towards yoga in older adults with chronic pain! Congratulations to Mel Day, currently on clinical internship at the Univ. of Washington, who has accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at UW! |

Davis was also contracted to produce the sculpture of UA Football Coach Nick Saban for the Walk of Champions at Bryant-Denny Stadium. 2010 November 19 --- Dr. Thorn receives Blackmon-Moody Outstanding Professor Award given to "a UA faculty member judged to have made extraordinary contributions that reflect credit on the individual, on his or her field of study, on students and on the University." August 13 --- Dr. Thorn is given the Nathan Perry Award for Career Service to Health Psychology from the Division of Health Psychology (Division 38) of the American Psychological Association. June 16 --- Dr. Thorn received the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. |
